“Meg Bird is a talent to watch: her vocals are by turns fragile and delicate, yet strong and vibrant without being too strident, and her songwriting is spot on.”

About Meg

Born and bred in East London, Meg Bird is an emerging young artist right at the cusp of an exciting musical career. Her sound is rooted in the jazz tradition, taking inspiration from vocalists such as Betty Carter and Cecile McLorin Salvant, and she is constantly pushing songs, both old and new, to fresh boundaries. When song writing, she fuses this sound with her love for songwriters such as Joni Mitchell and Rufus Wainwright, bringing a passion for lyric into the world of jazz. Meg has performed in venues across the UK from ‘The Blue Arrow’ in Glasgow, to some of London’s most popular Jazz clubs, such as Pizza Express Soho, The Spice of Life, and The Vortex. She released her debut album ‘Girls Like Lions’ in October 2021 to critical acclaim. She is currently in the process of writing new music for an EP comprised solely of her original music.
